The Hen Who Dreamed She Could Fly – Sun-Mi Hwang
The Hen Who Dreamed She Could Fly is a beautifully translated fable that I found an absolute pleasure to read.
It follows the story of Sprout, the hen, who is kept inside a coop, only for her eggs. She watches the free-range chickens in the yard, and longs to hatch a chick of her own.
Sprout manages to escape the coop and finds herself on a roller-coaster journey to not only find her place in the world, but to also find herself.
It’s a lovely story, and one that would be accessible to all ages. It covers a multitude of issues wonderfully, and leaves the reader feeling very ‘zen’ and at peace, by the time the story concludes.
I would highly recommend this if you’re looking for a small book to get into, and with this one being so easy to read, it will take you no time at all to finish.
