52 Books in 52 Weeks
I’ve always been inspired by people who set themselves reading challenges of X amount of books over X amount of weeks / months.
Whilst I am an avid reader, I found the idea of setting myself a target of reading a certain number of books over the course of a year a little daunting. Would I really be able to get through more than 4/5 books? Could I seriously read a book a week?
Towards the end of 2013, I joined the Waterstones Piccadilly Book Club, which allowed me to dip my toes in the water and see how I would handle the challenge. We were set a book a week (sometimes two books in one week!) over the course of around 6-months, and we met at the Waterstones Piccadilly store to discuss these books for the Waterstones Book Club podcast.
After making it through that, I figured “sod it – it can be done!”, and I set myself up with a reading challenge on Goodreads, which allowed me to track my progress and get a look at how other people were doing with their own challenges.
So far, I have read 24 of my the 52 books I set myself, and according to Goodreads I am 7 books ahead of schedule, so it seems to be going quite well!
If you want to follow my progress, and take a look at the books I have been reading throughout 2014, then take a look at my reading challenge here.
I’d love to hear if anyone else is taking on a reading challenge – let me know how you’re doing in the comments!
